This letter is to explain your launching, docking, trailer storage and
car parking at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.
The Club Manager’s name is Gary Marshall and the ABYC phone number is
(562) 434-9955
The yacht club has two hoists – a 2 Ton and a
1 Ton Hoist. If you need a hoist that
can lift more weight, please contact the Marina Shipyard for service (562)
594-0995.
Special notes:
Olson 30’s - ON SUNDAY, JUNE 25, ALL out of town Olson
30’s that need to take their masts down and haul their boats out of the water,
will do so at the US Sailing Center, which is located about a mile north of
ABYC inside Alamitos Bay. Please
do not use the hoists at ABYC on the final Sunday of racing. Please see the “Olson 30 Nationals” section
of the web page for additional information.
Melges
24’s - Both hoists at ABYC are rated for Melges 24 launching and hauling out –
go to the hoist which is least crowded!
Santana
20’s - Please use the small hoist for launching and hauling out of the water
(the far hoist from the clubhouse).
Arriving on Thursday or Friday (Olson 30's to arrive earlier) - Bring your boat to Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, 7201 E. Ocean Blvd., LB. ABYCS phone number is (562) 434-9955.
Once your boat is off it’s trailer, please park your
trailer in the lot across the street from ABYC.
If you arrive before 5:00pm on
Thursday, or any time on Friday, get a parking pass from the office and tape it
onto the front of your trailer for the weekend
(BE SURE TO WRITE ALL OF THE DAYS YOU NEED TRAILER PARKING ON THE
FORM).
If you arrive after 5:00pm on a
particular day, you will need to pay the city $4 parking charge (at the corner
of the parking lot) for that night. The next day during normal office hours,
please get a trailer parking pass from the office and tape it onto the front of
your trailer (BE SURE TO WRITE ALL OF
THE DAYS YOU NEED TRAILER PARKING ON THE FORM).
Please remember that car parking inside the ABYC
grounds is for members only EXCEPT TO LOAD AND UNLOAD YOUR BOAT. After you are through unloading, please park
outside the yard.
Parking in the lots will be free
if you pick up a “parking slip” from either the ABYC office or the gate
person. THERE ARE THREE IMPORTANT
PARKING ITEMS TO AVOID GETTING A TICKET:
1) get a new parking pass each
day, 2) be sure to write your car
license number, in ink, on it
each day, 3) do not park in any “red
designated parking spaces”.
III. Washing off your boats bottom - Please have
everything ready to wash off the bottom of your boat before you get to the hoist. If there are people waiting to get
into the water while you are on the hoist, please limit your time washing your
boat’s bottom to no more than 5 minutes.
There is general race week docking in the marina near the hotel (see “Docking”).
Olson 30’s will have their own group docking area in the Marina near the race headquarters (gangways 13 - 16 and 19).
V. HAULOUT
– Sunday afternoon
After racing, boats (except for
the out of town Olson 30’s) come back to ABYC .
Olson 30’s who are taking down
their masts and pulling out of the water, you are to go to the U.S. Sailing
Center located at 5489 E. Ocean Blvd – see Docking map.
Melges 24’s can use either hoist
and Santana 20’s are to use the small hoist – the one to your right as you sail
into the basin. There will be someone
there to help coordinate the haulouts and to help you get your trailer to the
hoist. Once your boat is out of the
water, take it to the wash down area and then please unrig your boat on the
street or in the lot across from ABYC.
When you return for Sunday's post
race festivities at the Seaport Marina Hotel, please park your vehicle &
trailer in the marina parking lot across the street from the hotel.
