AMENDMENT #3 (J/120's only)
Part II RULES AND CONDITIONS
7.4 (amended)
1. Replace all references to the Southern California Fleet 4 Amendments, November 2001 Update with Southern California Fleet 4 Amendments, May 2002 Update. The updates are listed on the Southern California Fleet 4 web page located at
http://www.j120socal.com/.
2. Add new paragraph 7.4.5 as follows:
7.4.5 Paragraph 19 of the Southern California Fleet 4 Amendments, May 2002 Update, is modified as follows: the top 3 boats in the standings each day will be flotation measured to verify flotation per J/Boats specifications, as detailed in J/120 Fleet 4 Measurer Steve Harris' email dated June 4th and as also posted on the J/120 Fleet 4 website
(http://www.j120socal.com/
). Each yacht will only have to be measured once, (e.g., a yacht that is in the top 3 after Friday's races and
remains in the top 3 for subsequent days will not have to be remeasured, if they remain in the same configuration). Time permitting, yachts may have their flotation verified on Thursday, June 27th at the Long Beach Yacht Club long dock and that verification will suffice for the regatta if the yacht's equipment is unchanged. Any required additional weight must be added per the J/Boats approved procedures detailed in the email and on the website referenced above.

Dated:
May 28, 2002
Web
Posting: May 30, 2002
This Addendum applies only to PHRF entries. Based on feedback from boat owners and in an effort to provide fair racing in the 'big-boat PHRF Class' at North Sails Race Week 2002, a special PHRF Consortium will assign handicaps for those boats racing in PHRF 1 class.
The official class splits will be announced on June 21st. The projected rating band for PHRF 1 is -10 and lower. If you are unsure whether your entry will be racing in PHRF 1, contact Bruce Golison at
(714) 379-4884 or bruce@golison.com.

AMENDMENT #2
Part II RULES AND CONDITIONS
3.3 (amended)
All PHRF entrants, with the exception of those boats racing in PHRF 1, must have a handicap assigned by PHRF of Southern California with local Area C adjustments (for more information, see section 7.2). A special PHRF Consortium will assign handicaps to those boats racing in PHRF 1 class.
The members of the special PHRF Consortium are listed on the Race Week web
site.
7.2.1 (amended)
With the exception of entrants racing in PHRF 1 class, PHRF handicaps for this event will be assigned by PHRF of Southern California.
7.2.3 (amended)
Those entrants racing in PHRF 1 class must submit their current PHRF handicap certificate. All other PHRF entrants must submit their current PHRF of Southern California handicap certificate to complete their entry. Entrants should not wait for their rating certificate before submitting their entry application. Best efforts will be made to have the PHRF handicaps for PHRF 1 entrants posted on the Race Week web page by June 21. Additionally, they will be posted on-site at Race Headquarters no later than 1600 on Thursday, June 27.

AMENDMENT #1 - PHRF Weight Limits
Dated:
May 20, 2002
Web
Posting: May 24, 2002
This Addendum applies only to PHRF entries. There has been considerable constructive feedback to our recent mailing addressing the new PHRF Crew Weight Limits. Based on
racing elsewhere in the U.S., we are confident that implementing crew weight limits is
the appropriate step for improving the quality of PHRF racing at North Sails Race Week.
While many areas of the country currently use crew weight limits, to date, the west coast has
not. Based on feedback from our boat owners and in an effort to minimize any negative impact
on crews during the first year, we will amend the crew weight limits found in the Notice of Race
as indicated below. We will solicit your feedback following this year's regatta prior to
establishing crew weight limits for 2003.
Notice & Conditions of Race
AMENDMENT #1
Part II RULES AND CONDITIONS
7.2.6 (amended)
Except for those boats racing in the PHRF 1 class (big boat class), the weight limit shown on each individual line of the base crew weight limit chart is increased by 180 pounds (approximately one additional crew member).
For those boats racing in the PHRF 1 class, the crew weight limit is increased by 360 pounds (approximately two additional crew members).
The number 55+ in the chart is changed to 50+.
The official class splits will be announced by June 15th. The projected rating band for PHRF 1 is -10 and lower. If you are unsure whether your entry will be racing in PHRF 1, contact Bruce Golison at (714) 379-4884 or bruce@golison.com.
