SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
PART II
ADDENDUM #1
5. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE
5.2 (Amended) One gun fired at 0830 will signal that races will start as scheduled for at least one of the
four divisions.
5.4 (Amended) The Race Committee will broadcast its intent to the four divisions on VHF Channels
69, 72, 73 and 74 at 0830.
7. CLASS FLAGS/BOW STICKERS
7.1 (Amended) Boats will be separated into four divisions and individual classes within each division based on entries received. A list of boats by division and class will be posted on the Official Notice Board along
with the flag color for each class. Class flags furnished to Divisions 1 and 2 shall be flown in the aft part of the boat, at least four feet above deck, at all times while the boat is racing.
7.2.1 (Added) Bow numbers will be required for the Farr 40 and Mumm 30 classes only. Each boat in these classes will be assigned a bow number. These bow numbers shall be displayed on both sides of the bow where the event bow stickers are required in 7.2. The event bow stickers shall be displayed approximately 10 inches aft of the bow numbers.
8. RACING AREA
8.1 (Amended) There will be four separate racing areas, one for each Division. Rendezvous locations for each Division will be posted on the Official Notice Board and available at registration.
9. COURSES
9.2 (Amended) The course for each class, with the magnetic bearing and distance in NM to the windward mark from
the middle of the starting line, will be displayed from the starboard side of the Signal boat before
the warning signal. If course, bearing or distance is unchanged for the succeeding class(es), there will be a blank space rather than repetition on the course board (see example next column).
9.5 (Amended) For Divisions 3 and 4 only, a windward offset mark(s) will be laid to port of the windward mark(s), approximately perpendicular to the course axis and approximately 150-200 feet
distance. The windward offset mark(s) are to be rounded to port and have no significance on the last leg of a course for
windward finishes (not depicted in the course diagrams, left).
10. MARKS
10.2 (Amended) For Divisions 3 and 4 only, the windward offset marks will be orange balls.
11. THE START
11.2 (Amended) THE START (DIVISIONS 3 & 4 ONLY)
11.2.2 (Amended) The Starting Line will consist of three committee boats: starboard end line, mid-line and port end line. The mid-line boat might not be on a straight line between the starboard line boat and the port
line boat. An orange inflatable may be attached to the stern of the line boats and shall be considered part of the starting mark for the purpose of RRS 28 and 31.
11.2.2.1 (Added) The starting line for the Farr 40, Mumm 30, J-105 and Melges 24 classes will be between staffs displaying orange flags on the starboard line boat and the mid-line boat and between staffs displaying orange flags on the mid-line boat and the port line boat (not depicted in course diagrams).
11.2.2.2 (Added) The starting line for the J/29 class will be between staffs displaying orange flags on the starboard line boat and the mid-line boat (not depicted in course diagrams).

13. COURSE CHANGE AFTER START
13.3 (Added) In the event the race committee shortens the course at the leeward gate, the Signal Boat will display code flag "S" and be on station outside the two gate marks. Finish between the two gate marks. This changes the instruction at Race Signal Flag 'S' in the RRS.
16. PENALTY SYSTEMS
16.1 (Amended) A boat that may have broken a rule of Part 2 while racing may take a penalty at the time of the incident by promptly making a 720° Turn after the incident in compliance with RRS 44.2 or by taking a Scoring Penalty in compliance with RRS 44.3 as amended by Sailing Instruction 16.1.1.
